Chrome, Edge, Brave and Firefox

Browsers can bypass your router by doing their own encrypted DNS. Either point that setting at Die Ratel or switch it off.

FilterCustom secure DNS provider URL
Family Filterhttps://doh.dieratel.com/doh/family-filter/
Adult Filterhttps://doh.dieratel.com/doh/adult-filter/

Chrome, Edge, Brave

Settings → Privacy and security → Security → Use secure DNS → With: Custom, paste the URL. Edge calls it Use secure DNS to specify how to lookup the network address for websites.

Firefox

Settings → Privacy & Security → DNS over HTTPS → Max Protection → Choose provider: Custom, paste the URL. If you use the Family filter on your router, Firefox turns its own DoH off automatically because Die Ratel answers the use-application-dns.net canary.

Managed computers

Administrators can pin these settings with the DnsOverHttpsMode and DnsOverHttpsTemplates policies (Chrome and Edge) and the DNSOverHTTPS policy (Firefox).
